St. Mary's in Axum

The Ark of the Covenant is believed to be stored and guarded in this chapel in Axum, Ethiopia. It is thought to have been brought from Jerusalem by soldiers of Queen Bathsheba after her tryst with Solomon. Monks of the Ethiopian Orthodox church guard the Ark here. A monk is chosen for a lifetime assignment as guard, allowing no one to enter under penalty of death. Many have died over the years and the monks have stood guard for over 1500 years.

Comments:
We have places such as this in Southern Arizona.

Gleeson, for example.

When I first saw the photo I was thinking AZ too - LOL. It's an intriguing theory, about the Ark being in Ethiopia. If they have had guards there for so many years they must be guarding something of great importance...

Skeptic that I am, I tend to believe this legend more than the Iraq/WMD/AlQueda theories.
