Wall Street (1987)

Best line in the film:

“Man looks in the abyss, there’s nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.” — Hal Holbrook, Wall Street

Ah. The abyss. The stuff dreams are made of.
The character Lou Mannheim, played by Hal Holbrook in Wall Street (1987), delivers many lines such as this in the film.

He is the moderating voice of calm and reason amid the storm of greed, fear and stress of the roller coaster that is Wall Street.

He's sort of like a grandfather, someone you trust but don't always appreciate his sternness on the first take.
